2020-2021 School Handbook
Thursday, January 21, 2021 – 7:00 p.m. (20-21 School Year Update #77)
Dear Families of Frankfort CUSD #168:
We close out the week tomorrow with Hybrid / In-Person Learners attending in the morning and doing some remote work in the afternoon. For this group, lunch will be a grab and go affair. For our Full Remote Learners, they should check at some point during the day and may pick up meals between 12 noon and 12:30 at the four schools or may call the schools before 10 a.m. for delivery.
Services for our Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Ashley Rivett, will be tomorrow afternoon. More information can be found on the website for Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher. We thank those of you who have reached out to her family, our staff, and our students to comfort them during this time.
Finally, today’s number of students reporting positive was two with nineteen other students under quarantine. We also had one staff member reporting positive results with one member under quarantine.
Be safe and we will post again on Sunday evening.
Sincerely,
Matt Donkin
Superintendent of Schools

Wednesday, January 20, 2021 – 7:00 p.m. (20-21 School Year Update #76)
Dear Families of Frankfort CUSD #168:
We will keep to our schedule both Thursday and Friday this week with our Hybrid / In-Person Learners attending in the morning and students doing some remote work in the afternoon. For this group, lunch will be a grab and go affair. For our Full Remote Learners, they should check at some point during the day and may pick up meals between 12 noon and 12:30 at the four schools or may call the schools before 10 a.m. for delivery.
Again, we will be continuing to remember our Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Ashley Rivett, as the week continues. Visitation and services are Friday and are posted on-line at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher.
Administrators met with students interested or involved with athletics at FCHS and CJHS today and have made arrangements to meet with remote learners as well. Students received the updated Athletic and Extra-Curricular Activities Code and an acknowledgment form that is due back as soon as possible for students to participate. We are continuing to gain information and passing it along through our social media as we figure out the latest changes and plans to re-start activities.
Finally, today’s number of students reporting positive was two with twenty-two other students under quarantine. We also had one staff member reporting positive results with no members under quarantine.
Continue to be cautious as you step out into the more open surroundings so that we can continue our progress. Until we talk in tomorrow night’s post, take care.
Sincerely,
Matt Donkin
Superintendent of Schools

Tuesday, January 19, 2021 – 7:00 p.m. (20-21 School Year Update #75)
Dear Families of Frankfort CUSD #168:
It seemed like a positive for our students and staff to be in a normal routine today as we reflected on the events of the past weekend. We will have more updates for any potential schedule changes this week as we deal with the passing of our colleague, Mrs. Ashley Rivett, from Denning School. Arrangements have been posted on-line at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher.
Tomorrow should be a regular day for both our Hybrid / In-Person Learners and our Full Remote Learners. Lunch will be a grab and go option with Full Remote students able to pick up meals between 12 noon and 12:30 at the four schools or calling before 10 a.m. for delivery.
As we adjust to the rapidly changing guidelines and rules for athletic participation, we will have information out in the next 24 to 48 hours on our timeline to re-start activities. We are trying to ensure that we have all safety plans in place so that we don’t have an uptick of positive cases that could cause us to have to shut back down again.
Finally, today’s number of students reporting positive was one with thirty other students under quarantine. We also had one staff member reporting positive results with one member under quarantine.
Again, please continue the safe practices as we start to venture out again. Let’s keep this positive health streak going. Until tomorrow night’s post, have a good evening and good day.
Sincerely,
Matt Donkin
Superintendent of Schools

Monday, January 18, 2021 – 7:15 p.m. (20-21 School Year Update #74)
Dear Families of Frankfort CUSD #168:
We begin this second week of Hybrid / In-Person Learning with many going Full Remote after a more challenging weekend than we could have anticipated. On the school front, we will be in session each morning with meals going out at lunch. For our Full Remote students, they can pick up meals between 12 noon and 12:30 at the four schools or they can call before 10 a.m. for delivery.
We have reached out with a personal call to our families at Denning Elementary and hesitated to put things in writing until they had talked with their children. This is because we learned on Sunday morning of the passing of Mrs. Ashley Rivett, who taught kindergarten. She was a dear colleague to all of us in the District and a great teacher who continued to be devoted to their education throughout these many months. We will have counselors available at school tomorrow and also ask for your understanding as we as a faculty and staff, as well as your children, work though this time. I will not be having many details on our phone call tonight because I never know who is answering the phone at your house – but wanted to let the rest of the families in our District know. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Some of you might have noticed helicopters flying east of town today. Two FCHS students were involved in a wreck. Thankfully, despite several injuries, they are doing as well as can be expected.
Then, as staff is beginning to receive vaccinations, we learned of relaxed guidelines for public gatherings and restaurants. Please know that we are still a few weeks away from having the immunity built up, so while it will be tough, please be careful and continue safe practices as we aren’t completely out of the woods, yet.
With that change in state phases, we are also working through a resumption of some athletic activities. This week, we will also be sending out our updated “Athletic and Extra-Curricular Activities Code.” We will have those to distribute so parents can read and sign acknowledgment form so that students may participate. There will be more information on the timing of that as this week goes along.
Finally, last Friday’s number of students reporting positive was three with thirty-seven other students under quarantine. We also had three staff members reporting positive results with one member under quarantine.
I will post again tomorrow night. Until then, have a good evening.
Sincerely,
Matt Donkin
Superintendent of Schools

Wednesday, January 13, 2021 – 7:15 p.m. (20-21 School Year Update #72)
Dear Families of Frankfort CUSD #168:
We will again be in session tomorrow with our hybrid / in-person student attendance in the morning with remote time in the afternoon. We will also have work for those who are continuing to do full remote. For those attending in person, lunch will be sent in the “grab and go” bags.
Then, we have adjustment to announce. Regular remote lunch distribution will still occur between 12 noon and 12:30 p.m. at Denning, FIS, Central and the High School. However, we have a change for those who pick up meals at our three remote sites at the Aquatic Center, Pershing, and Orient. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, January 14, there will be no bus delivery to those three meal distribution sites. Instead, we will be offering meal delivery to any full remote learner who cannot arrange transportation to one of the four school buildings to pick up meals.
If you are a full remote family and would like to schedule a meal delivery, please call your school’s principal and they will add you to the list for drop off.
Finally, today’s number of students reporting positive is again four with thirty-six other students are under quarantine. We also had two staff members reporting positive results with four members under quarantine. Until we talk tomorrow, have a good evening.
Sincerely,
Matt Donkin
Superintendent of Schools
