Parents: Here's the CJHS "Use your Cube" message for the month:
Sometimes life can get you down. Turn it around! Tonight, before bedtime, talk to your kids about the risks of underage drinking and let them know how disappointed you would be if they tried it. Trust us, you’ll feel great and sleep like a baby! For more info, visit: theelephantisintheroom.com

Another basketball season has come and gone. We were lucky enough to host boys and girls regionals. I want to thank all of the volunteers that make everything run so smoothly. John Butler, Jon and Allison Adkins, and Paul Lawrence on the girls games. For the boys side I want to thank Roger Wilburn, Rick Conner, Matt Donkin, and Jim Johnson. These guys have been doing this for a long time. Thank you all for you dedication and work for our student athletes! I also want to thank Michelle Loeh for taking care of our attendance workers during the season as well.

CJHS parents please help us out by taking the 5 Essentials survey. We are only at 13% of parent completion and need at least 20% of parents to complete in order to see our results. Please follow the link below to take the survey and let us know what we can do to better serve our students.

CJHS will be administering the Illinois Youth Survey (IYS) in March of 2024 to 8th grade students. Below is a link to an informational letter explaining what the survey consists of and giving you as the parent the option to prevent your child from participating. We will also be sending this letter home in a paper format for you to sign and return if you choose to opt your child out. The survey is anonymous, but helps us better understand the risk factors affecting our students, so we can adequately address them through education.

This afternoon Central Junior High School conducted a soft lockdown and random drug search of lockers with police officers and a trained canine unit. All students were in classrooms and were not in direct contact with police or the canine unit. No drugs or drug paraphernalia were found in the search. All students have currently resumed their normal schedule. CJHS strives to maintain a drug free educational environment to keep our school safe for all students.

Good Luck to our HS boys basketball team tonight as they take on Benton at Max Morris tonight!
