Thanks to some additional sharp-eyed proofreaders, there is an August 12 update to the Parent-Student Handbook that is now posted on the District's websites. There were no policy changes, just some clean up of some grammar and wording. Thanks for those who have read and assisted us in this project.

All school buses should now be on their way home as it was a little slow going on this first day of school. Bus and car traffic should smooth out the next few days as everyone gets used to the new routine and we work to keep traffic moving on the side streets around the schools. Please remember to not leave our cars unattended in the loading zones. We will see you all tomorrow.

As we welcome students back on Tuesday morning, please be aware that the required Parent-Student Handbook acknowledgement form will be made available through the TeacherEase App on Tuesday. Your principals will be sending that reminder out in the morning. We look forward to a good start to the 2025-2026 School Year.

The 2025-2026 Parent-Student Handbook has been posted on each of our school district's homepage. The link is located on a button below the pictures. Students will receive an acknowledgment form when they begin that parents and guardians will need to sign. We are looking forward to a good school year as we welcome our students back. https://www.wfschools.org/.

As we prepare to welcome teachers on Monday and students on Tuesday morning, we thank the West Frankfort Street Department for helping to keep our students safe by touching up the paint on crosswalks leading to our schools. Be sure to look both ways when you are walking or driving so that everyone stays safe throughout this school year..

A Follow-Up from Frankfort CUSD #168: After talking with and reassuring some students in the bus lines about this afternoon's brief hold/soft lockdown, please reassure them as they get home that they were safe at all times. The person of interest, who was walking on the northeast side of town near Bryan Street and an old school, was quickly apprehended by the WFPD. After further investigation, he was carrying a "look-a-like" weapon and not a real one. We again thank the alert individuals of the public who alerted us immediately so that we can reach out to law enforcement to make that determination. It takes all of us to keep our students and schools safe. Enjoy the rest of your day.

From Frankfort CUSD #168: Within the last 10 minutes, our schools were briefly put into a "Hold" or soft lockdown status as there were reports of an individual walking down the street on the northwest side of town carrying a long gun. WFPD have apprehended the individual and we are now back to normal, "All Clear" operations and will keep our regular dismissal time.. Thanks go to the alert individuals who reported the incident.
