Students at Frankfort Community High School will be dismissed at 12:30 today, Friday, September 15, 2023. ALL other schools in the District will be open through our regular dismissal time. A smoke incident occured with the ventilation in a second floor classroom. All students and staff evacuated safely. The West Frankfort Fire Department remains on the scene to clear the smoke and find the cause. We will have further information and a wrap up post later today. We thank everyone for their cooperation.

Statement Regarding Student Incident
Late this morning, school administration was informed of a questionable post made by a student on social media that indicated a potential threat to Central Junior High School. The absent student was quickly located at home by the West Frankfort Police Department's School Resource Officer while administrators investigated at the school. Students and staff were safe at all times due to the quick reaction to this post. Potential consequences through the school discipline policies and through the juvenile justice system are being pursued.
We remind everyone that if you see suspicious behavior or activity, please report it so that it can be investigated as we work each day to keep our schools safe. Thank you.
