Final Update from Frankfort CUSD #168 Re: Denning Elementary School Water situation. Thanks to the West Frankfort Water Department, water service HAS BEEN RESTORED to Denning School. Therefore, SCHOOL WILL BE in SESSION at DENNING and ALL SCHOOLS in the FCUSD #168 area on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Denning and the surrounding neighborhood are under a boil water order and we will be making arrangements to work through that as we welcome students back in the morning. Again, we thank everyone who helped make for a smooth dismissal today. We have seen our students shine in these situations in several schools at several times this year.
An update from Frankfort CUSD #168 and Denning Elementary School: We thank everyone for their patience and cooperation as we had to make the call to dismiss our youngest students early this afternoon. The remaining students who are not being picked up are being transported to Frankfort Intermediate School to catch their bus or attend Redbird Roost after school. All District schools will be in session tomorrow, Thursday, April 24. If there is any change to that schedule, we will have an update posted at approximatly 7:30 this evening.
Boys Track Schedule Update.

A water line was cut near Denning Elementary School a little after 11 this morning. Until it is fixed, Denning has no running water. Therefore, we are dismissing classes for DENNING SCHOOL ONLY at this time. Classes are dismissed is for SIU Pre-K afternoon classes and all Early Childhood, Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade students. Parents and guardians should come to the school to pick up their student. Busses will run for the District at their regular time this afternoon. We will have more updates as they become available. Thanks for your understanding.

On Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. a meeting conducted by the Frankfort CUSD #168 will take place at the Office of Student Services, 508 East Main Street, West Frankfort, IL. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the district’s plans for providing special education services to students with disabilities who attend private schools and/or home schools within the district for the 2024-2025 school year. If you are a parent of a home-schooled student who has been or may be identified with a disability and you reside within the boundaries of Frankfort Community School district, you are urged to attend. DES hosted our final Breakfast with a Buddy of the year this morning! We are so excited and grateful for amazing parent and family support. Also, thank you to the FCHS FFA and West Frankfort Fire Department for buddying up with our students. ♥️
We were so thankful to host our first Educators Rising President (2022) Makane Cass, who came to tell us all about her experiences in the SIU Ed program and as our 2023 Princess Flame! She makes me SO proud-what a wonderful young woman leader and example for our students!!

Breakfast with a Buddy (Every midterm at Denning) Join a student at DES for breakfast Friday, April 19 from 7:30-8:00. Limit one “buddy” per student. Cini-minis, yogurt, milk or juice will be provided.

Join us at DES for our Spring Carnival this Saturday, April 13 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. We will have tons of games and prizes including face painting, a bounce house, soda and cake walk, golf, basketball, and a football, baseball and bean bag toss. In addition, there will be a 50/50 drawing, mega raffle, goldfish game, and concessions! Bring your family and friends. We can’t wait to see you Saturday!
